Sportsman Choice Award Winners and Wired To Hunt Awards Announced

The Sportsman Choice Awards winners have been announced and I am appalled! My favorite two shows were some how looked over for the awards and were beaten by some pretty lame contenders. I’m a HUGE fan of Arrow Affliction (Chris Brackett) and Heartland Bowhunter (Jeff Simpson) and neither of them brought home a trophy! Thats ridiculous. Both were up for best show and Chris Brackett was up for best host. I was particularly appalled by the fact that Keith Warren won best host. I don’t think anyone, let alone Keith Warren, can stack up with the excitement or intensity of a host like Chris Brackett (Although Fred Eichler is right there too). So overall I was really disappointed in the results, I voted and did my best to get my boys the respect they deserve, but no such luck. So to reconcile that, I would like to recognize the first ever Wired To Hunt “Best Damn Hunting Show” Awards. So I would like to congratulate Heartland Bowhunter for winning in the “Best Damn Hunting Show” category and recognize Chris Brackett for winning in the “Best Damn Hunting Show Host” category. Mad props to you guys.

Las Vegas, NV – Amid the cheering of over 700 of their peers, the winners of the 2009 Sportsman Choice Awards were announced last night during Sportsman Channel’s annual awards ceremony at Lagasse’s Stadium in the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas, during the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show.
The voice of the American Sportsman was heard as viewers logged nearly 25,000 votes during an eight-week period to determine the award winners. Fans narrowed the field from hundreds of eligible shows to just five finalists in nine categories. Winners received a custom-designed crystal award and joined the elite club of Sportsman Choice Award winners.
“It was a wonderful evening spent with our program producers and guests during this annual celebration,” said Sportsman Sr. Vice President, Todd D Hansen. “It is important for our shows, and their sponsors, to know Sportsman Channel fans voted for them and want to see more of their style of programming.”
“Thank you to viewers and Sportsman Channel for making this event special. Sportsman knows how to put on an event like this, sometimes we are too busy to celebrate these shows and it is great Sportsman has stepped up to the plate,” said Best Combo Show winner, Dan Ferris with MidWest Outdoors.
“I am just honored to be here tonight, and then to be chosen by the viewers of this great network. Glad to be with Sportsman Channel these past few years. We work hard to bring intense big game hunting to the viewers,” said Best Hunt Clip winner, Kevin Gross with Hunting with the Pros.

2 great shows, but you forgot to mention the best show on the channel, Backstage & Backroads. Most of the shows on the channel are the same thing over and over and over and over. Backstage & Backroads is ahead of its time. Something sounds fishy at the Sportsman Channel especially when you see a stump like Keith Warren winning best host? Give me a break.

Haha well said, a stump is a fitting description. I’m sure he’s a good guy, but he’s just not that engaging of a host.
