Interview with Dr. James Kroll

Last night my local QDMA branch, here in South East Michigan, hosted a seminar featuring Dr. James C Kroll. Dr. Kroll is one of the worlds foremost experts on deer management and he has been a very influential voice in the new era of quality deer management. Dr. Kroll is a regular contributor to the North American Whitetail magazine and TV show, has written many books and conducted some of the most ground-breaking research studies in the deer world. In addition to his public works he is also a professor of forest wildlife and director of the Institute for White-tailed Deer Management and Research at Stephen F. Austin University.

All that being said, point is that Dr. James Kroll knows what he’s talking about and I was really excited to be able to hear him at this seminar. The evening was filled with great insight into the whitetail world and I certainly learned a lot. At the end of the session, Dr. Kroll was kind enough to take a few minutes to speak with me and share some thoughts with the Wired To Hunt Nation. Check out this video to hear Dr. Kroll’s guiding words for the next generation of hunters and some interesting thoughts on the harm that brassicas might cause in a food plot strategy!

Mark, thanks for the interview! That has to be pretty sweet to sit down with the Dr. Kroll!! And the piece on the brassicas was really interesting…..learn something new every day! We’ll definitely keep it out of our plots now.

Nice work Mark – In my opinion, the last question you asked Kroll was the best. Part of his response “everybody’s watching us” caught my ear because it’s the truth. PETA, misinformed celebrities, run of the mill anti-hunters, they all want to put an end to the traditions we hunters cherish. We need to stick together to keep those traditions alive. Keep up the good work.
