Speaking of Iowa (see yesterday’s Iowa DNR roundtable), there are few states that conjure such whitetail excitement and have such a high non-resident hunter demand as does the Hawkeye State. And that being the case, the Iowa DNR has implemented a point system that combined with a lottery, determines what lucky individuals receive non-resident whitetail tags. If you dream of chasing Iowa giants some day in the future, now is the time to start buying those preference points! Word on the street is that it usually takes 3 or more preference points to get drawn for an archery tag. I just bought my second point, so maybe next year I’ll be in the land of giants come November!
