It’s not often you see the words “deer hunting” on the front page of the CNN website. In fact I’m not sure it’s ever happened before! But today it’s reality. Why? Because VP hopeful Paul Ryan is gearing up for hunting season, and specifically he’s getting his daughter outfitted for her first rifle hunt!
Per the “Trending” article from CNN, during a break in his campaigning trip to Ohio, he stopped at a local Bass Pro Shops and bought some new carbon hunting clothes for his 10 year old daughter.
“She’s hunted with me but this is the first time she gets to do the hunting herself,” Ryan said of daughter Liza. “She’s 10 years old and you can hunt starting at 10. I got her a rifle for Christmas last year and so I’m getting her ready.”
Gotta love the obsession with Ryan’s every move, as the CNN reporter regaled, “The outdoorsman went directly to the “Women’s Camo” area to check out their assortment of camouflage items. He purchased his daughter gloves, a beanie and a bib and paid for the $101.14 bill in cash. With a couple items in hand, he explained to reporters the hat and gloves include carbon which helps block a human’s scent.”
I certainly love hunting being featured on the big stage, and in the positive light that Ryan puts it. But I’m sure we’ll see plenty of vitriol directed at Ryan and all hunters in general from all the anti-hunting crazies out there as soon as they see this.
Nonetheless, glad to see Ryan is getting his daughter into the sport and I wish her the best of luck!
