Want to get better at estimating the age of deer based on seeing them in the field or by looking at photos? Watch this video.
In every issue of the QDMA’s Quality Whitetails magazine there is an “Age This” section, in which a series of deer photos are shown, from which you are to try estimating the age. On the next page, four expert judges offer their own opinions on the age of each deer and how they came to that decision. It’s an incredible resource and tool for getting better at aging deer on the hoof, and last month at the QDMA National Convention this idea was put into action in a live setting, with a panel of judges and an audience estimating the ages of deer live in person. Lucky for us, it’s on video.
Check out the video below for 25 minutes of deer aging advice and practice. And make sure to play along at home to see how your estimates compare with the judges!
