Six Shooter

Thanks for purchasing “Moments With Six Shooter”! As mentioned at the end of the book, over the past three years I’ve accumulated hundreds of photos and videos taken over the course of this hunt. So to help illustrate the story you’ve now completed, I wanted to share a few of those pictures and clips that made this journey what it was.

**Also – now available is the near feature length film “Six Shooter” , recounting this tale in all of its glory through video. Click here to see “Six Shooter”**

An image from the first day spent with Six Shooter, he was within 100 yards for somewhere around six or seven hours that day.

This is the first clip ever filmed of Six Shooter, moments after seeing him for the first time.

After watching Six Shooter all morning, I returned in the evening and once again had an encounter. Here’s an interview from that night.

During the 2012 season, this buck helped keep my mind off of the disappearance of Six Shooter.

In spring 2013, while turkey hunting, this is how I found Six Shooter’s shed.

As soon as summer came around, I got to work on food plots to improve this property where Six Shooter was hanging out. But with my upcoming wedding, time was hard to come by. This led to me doing a lot of late night and early morning property work.

Here’s a video of a visit I took to a Whitetail Institute Winter Greens plot I planted in the summer of 2013, which is where I saw Six Shooter later that year on December 11th.

This clip was filmed as I scouted the property that I eventually would kill Six Shooter on. In fact, where I stood in this shot, was maybe only 100 yards from where we found Six Shooter.

Although I didn’t know it was him at the time, Six Shooter showed up on trail camera consistently all the way though August and September.

After comparing many videos and trail camera pictures, we realized that Six Shooter had returned. We believe the injuries he sustained in 2011 (shot/gored in back leg & shot in face with buckshot) were responsible for his right side being so much weaker.

Before the hunting season started, I filmed this interview for our web series, in which I jokingly discussed my soon to be wife and our upcoming wedding!

During my second hunt of the 2013 season, I saw Six Shooter at a distance, bedding in the same location that he often did in 2011.

Throughout October, Six Shooter frequently showed up on trail camera.

Finally, on October 31st, I saw Six Shooter again.

Here’s a quick clip of Six Shooter, where I first spotted him on that soaking wet Halloween night.

I later found out that a hunter on a neighboring property had a close call with Six Shooter the next day, and he captured this photo.

Six Shooter continued to show up on camera all throughout November, but no sightings were had.

When firearm season arrived, I stopped hunting this property, and let it remain a “sanctuary”. During this time, Six Shooter remained active, even during daylight.

Six Shooter survived the firearm season, and when I finally checked cameras in December, I was greeted with many photos of this old brute.

On December 6th, I had a great opportunity at a big 8 pointer in Ohio, but missed. At this point, I hit a definite low.

Here’s an interview I filmed that night, after missing the Ohio buck. Feeling pretty down.

Several days later (Dec 11), on my first hunt on this property since November 14th, I again saw Six Shooter.

Five days later, I recorded this interview, before heading to hunt an adjacent property, thanks to my wife’s insistence!
