When the National Deer Alliance was launched this summer, it’s major value proposition was that it would unify and work towards solutions for all deer hunters. This sounded great and it’s something that is sorely needed, but at the time it was nothing more than a sound byte.

Today the National Deer Alliance has taken a big step towards making that vision a reality. As of just recently, the NDA has secured the support of Whitetails Unlimited to join the other two major deer focused conservation organizations, the Quality Deer Management Association and the Mule Deer Federation, in supporting the National Deer Alliance. With this triumvirate, the National Deer Alliance has now united hundreds of thousands of hunters under their common umbrella, and will now be able to work on behalf of deer and deer hunting at an even larger scale. Exciting stuff to say the least.

Given my role within the NDA, I can tell you this. There is a lot going on behind the scenes to try and develop a firm foundation for this organization. And there are a lot of people very passionate about deer and deer hunting that are working to make sure that the National Deer Alliance gets it right. There is much more to come from the NDA in the future and we’re excited to get working on real issues that impact hunters across the country. But at this time, we’re definitely in the foundation building phase. The support we’ve recently gained from Whitetails Unlimited, as well as from the QDMA and Mule Deer Foundation, is a huge step in the right direction.

But we need support from the ground floor too. That’s you, and your dad, and your work buddies, and your girlfriend. For the National Deer Alliance to truly live up to it’s promise of unifying deer hunters and working towards the future of North America’s wild deer, wildlife habitat and hunting heritage – we’re going to need your help. Please take a moment to join the National Deer Alliance today by visiting and clicking the “Join” button. It’s free, it takes just a minute, and it’s an easy first step towards helping protect the deer hunting lifestyle we all cherish so much.

Newark, NY- The National Deer Alliance is pleased to announce that they will be joined by Whitetails Unlimited in their effort to protect North America’s wild deer, wildlife habitat and the future of hunting. With over 32 years of experience in wildlife conservation, Whitetails Unlimited will be a valuable partner and assist the NDA in its mission to achieve positive outcomes for deer and deer hunting.

“The NDA couldn’t be more pleased to receive the support of Whitetails Unlimited, which has 90,000 members,” stated Craig Dougherty, Executive Director of the NDA. “This is a great stride in the process of achieving the goals of both the NDA and Whitetails Unlimited. The NDA now has the support of the three largest deer organizations in the country (The Mule Deer Foundation, QDMA, and Whitetails Unlimited). This will enhance our ability to ensure the future of deer and deer hunting dramatically.”

Founded in 1982, Whitetails Unlimited is a national non-profit conservation organization that has remained true to its mission and has made great strides in the field of conservation. They have gained the reputation of one of the nation’s premier organizations dedicating its resources to the betterment of the white-tailed deer and the future of deer hunting.

“Our support of the NDA is in direct response to the need for action against the threats which face our nation’s deer population today”, stated WTU President Jeff Schinkten.

“Traditionally, WTU has supported our grassroots chapters in their conservation efforts, but has not been active in advocating specific policy positions because WTU does not have the resources available to properly evaluate the countless proposals and issues that arise throughout the country. We have always encouraged our members to become educated and active in their local areas. Teaming with the NDA is a great opportunity to bring to the forefront those issues important to deer hunters across the nation,” said Schinkten.

As a national organization with a very diverse membership, Schinkten said it is important for Whitetails Unlimited to stay true to its core mission, but by affiliating with the NDA we can provide more information to deer hunters, and get them more active in advancing the sport of regulated deer hunting.

Membership in NDA is free and includes a comprehensive weekly e-newsletter on issues impacting deer and deer hunting in North America. It provides deer hunters with the voice they have been waiting for. For more information, or to join the thousands of other hunters who are committed to preserving our deer hunting heritage, visit
