Some of the most valuable tools we have as deer hunters are aerial and topographic maps, that show us the cover and terrain on the properties we hunt. But properly reading and interpreting those maps sometimes is easier said than done.

In Episode #92 of the Wired To Hunt Podcast, we chatted with mapmaker Ben Harshyne all about maps and the various terrain features you can identify with them that help you as a deer hunter. And in our Video of the Day today, Ben shares more on this topic with an additional focus on “draws”, but with the visual aid of an actual map to illustrate the features he’s discussing. If you’ve ever struggled to read a topo map, this video ought to help.
